#5 - 20+ links to design inspiration 🤩
[3 min] Links to sites I browse everyday to get inspired
Hey, everyone!
I want to share my main sources of design inspiration with you today.
As we all know, discovering and collecting inspiration is a vital part of every designer’s creative process. We want to know what’s new, what’s getting released, and what others are doing to push our work further as well. And to do that, we want to have access to the “best” sources available.
The following list includes my favorite sites that I browse every day. I usually dedicate some time in the morning or evening to check them out and save what may be useful for me in the future:
🌎 General inspiration
Savee - My #1 go-to source for all visual inspiration. Savee is a curated feed of pretty much anything design-related. The quality of content is high, and the community does a good job of filtering.
Producthunt - This is where I check new products that launch every day. It’s great for both discovery and also product testing. The variety of things launching on PH is quite wide.
Hypebeast - I mainly check Hypebeast to stay in the loop with culture news and general “lifestyle” stuff. It’s a great peek into fashion, music, and other topics (other than the digital design).
Dense Discovery - Great newsletter/magazine about design and technology. Apps & sites, and books are my favorite sections, and they often include thought-provoking articles to read as well.
💻 Web design
Godly - The first site I check right in the morning. Animated thumbnails show featured websites in full greatness. And I also like the variety of site styles and types posted in the gallery.
Awwwards - No introduction needed. One thing I'd mention, though, is that I mainly check the Nominees section and collections. I don't care much about SOTD or other awards. I want to see everything, even sites that don't win.
Maxibestof - Similar site to Siteinspire and another well-curated web design inspiration. They also run a weekly inspiration digest. If you don't want to check things "manually," you can get a wrap-up to your inbox.
Siteinspire - The second most known site in the community right after Awwwards. It's been my dream for years to get featured there, but so far, no luck. It only proves the bar for quality is set up high!
Nicelydone - Collection of web design components, screens, and pattern inspiration. Maybe the biggest one today. Filtering and searching could be better, but the content curation is on point.
📲 Mobile design
Mobbin - Curated gallery of iOS and Android app designs and mobile UX patterns. Getting a paid plan is totally worth it. It allows you to do unlimited browsing, searching, or filtering. Plus, you can create your own collections too.
App Store - I usually check the App of the Day or other featured apps from the editorial team. I’d recommend having the U.S. account as well if you only have a local account.
🔤 Fonts
Besides Fonts In Use, I currently don’t have any go-to site for font inspiration. I rely on Behance or Instagram accounts such as TypeDepartment, 365typefaces, or FutureFonts.
🗂 Other
A few honorable mentions of sites I check as well, but not daily:
Land-book (web design)
MindsparkleMag (branding, identity)
Dezeen (architecture)
The Verge (tech news)
Colorhunt (colors)
Complex (similar to Hypebeast)
Minimal Gallery (more web stuff!)
Abduzeedo (mix of all things)
These are all the main ones that I like the most.
But it’s not just about checking out what’s new. It’s about how you work with inspiration when you save it. I’d like to talk about that part as well, but since it’s a topic on its own I’ll cover it in the upcoming posts. We’ll have more space to dive into details there.
Have a great week, and see you soon!
A.
PS: What are your sources of inspiration? Anything worth sharing? Feel free to reply to this post so others can check them out too.
PPS: You can still donate to support Ukraine 🇺🇦 in my previous post.
Links & (other) inspiration
A collection of links to stuff I'm currently digging.
🔤 Font - Betatron (Free) - Technical font inspired by sci-fi movies featuring solely vertical, horizontal, and 45° diagonal lines.
💻 Web Design - DrDabber - I don’t know how Locomotive does it, but every site from their studio looks so fresh! Take a look at what they did for this new online store.
🧩 Plugin - Sort It (Figma) - Tired of manually sorting frames and layers in Figma? You can now do it with one click.
🎦 Video - Nerd of the Rings - Must-see channel for all hardcore Lord of the Rings fans (including myself).
Thanks Ales for your resources! My favorite one that I checked everyday is Savee.it 🩵
This quality content is insane! Didn't know SAVEE, now I'm just addicted! Great work!!
